Galle Lighthouse
he Galle Lighthouse is Sri Lanka’s oldest lighthouse, built in 1939 on the Point Utrecht Bastion within the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The current 26.5-meter-high concrete structure replaced an 1848 predecessor destroyed by a fire, offering strategic views of Galle Harbor from its location on the ramparts. Today, it’s a significant tourist attraction and symbol of the city’s maritime history, surrounded by the charming colonial architecture of the fort.
