The Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque – Red Mosque
The Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque, or Red Mosque, is a historic and striking landmark in Colombo’s Pettah district, built in 1908 with a distinctive red and white striped, candy-striped facade. It features unique, pomegranate-shaped domes and blends Indo-Islamic, Persian, and Gothic architectural styles. Once a sailor’s landmark, it is now a major tourist attraction known for its vibrant colors and unconventional design, but visitors should be aware of dress codes and closure times.

This was not our first time going to here. It is a great place to shop not too far from Europe. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.
